(SOUTH JORDAN, UT – August 31, 2016) Smith’s has opened a new Smith’s Marketplace store at 5448 Daybreak Parkway in the Trail Crossing Shopping Center in South Jordan, Utah.

The new 124,000 square foot multi-department store will offer a complete grocery store along with pharmacy, apparel, florist and household needs; Fred Meyer Jewelers; Murray’s Cheese, sit-down sushi and hot Asian food bar; fresh made to order baked pizzas, salads and sandwiches; and a Starbucks with indoor and outdoor seating.

In addition, the $26 million store will feature an on-site Smith’s Fuel Center and two-lane drive through pharmacy. Smith’s will also introduce ClickList at the store, which is an online grocery ordering service, offering customers 40,000 items from their desktop or mobile device for next-day curbside pick-up.

The South Jordan store will net 250 new jobs and is part of Smith’s ambitious plan to expand the Marketplace brand in Utah through 2017, representing a construction investment of $300 million in the state.

“Daybreak welcomes Smith’s to the community and we are excited to have such a quality tenant anchor an important location along the Mountain View Corridor,” said Scott R. Kaufmann, Vice President Commercial Development of Daybreak Communities. “As Daybreak and the southwest part of the valley continue to grow, the Mountain View Corridor will become an increasingly vital piece of infrastructure, which will serve Smith’s and other businesses well for many years to come.”

New to the marketplace design, is a specially commissioned art mural of South Jordan painted by local Utah artist Traci O’Very Covey.  The mural portrays the agricultural heritage of the area, and captures the spirit of the current community and surrounding neighborhood homes.

Smith’s now operates 140 stores in seven western states including 52 stores in Utah. Smith’s charitable giving, in partnership with 17,000 associates, generous customers and suppliers, totaled $5.2 million in cash and food products to Utah organizations in 2015.
